Margaret Fife died at Providence, Cache Co., Utah, Dec. 22, 1883 of old age. Margaret Mathieson Fife was 82 years, 9 months, 27 days. Deceased was born 15 March 1801, in Peebles, Scotland. Baptized by Elder Orson Pratt in 1840. Emigrated to Nauvoo in 1842, moved to Macedonia, Iowa in 1843, lived there when the Prophet was killed. She with her husband and family was driven from there by an armed mob of 250 men. She received her blessing in the temple at Nauvoo. Moved to Council Bluffs in 1849. Arrived in Salt Lake in 1850. Her oldest son was one of the volunteers in the Battalion, but was never heard of since. She moved to Providence in 1862. She was much respected by all, had a great faith in the gospel. Lived and died faithful. Sister Fife had 8 children, 42 grandchildren 23 great-grandchildren.
