Colloquium – CS 7930 – Every Spring and Fall – Every year
Held in the LCR of MEB (Room 3147) 3:40pm to 5:00pm on M, W, F (unless o/w noted)

See
Calendar and Colloquium Info for details.

Colloquia are extremely important for the growth of a graduate student’s knowledge and perspective.

We are requiring every student registered in Colloquium (CS 7930) to attend at least a third of the colloquia (for one credit) and two-thirds of the colloquia (for two credits). Plz let me know if you have signed up for more than two credits (this is discouraged).

We will meet as per the colloquium calendar posted in the SoC Events page. Please refer to this calendar to know when colloquia are held. All attendance requirements are with respect to colloquia actually held. If there is no colloquium organized on this events page, then please do not try and attend (there will be nothing to attend).

A research colloquium may be a standard colloquium, a Distinguished Lecture, a Faculty Recruiting talk, or a Research Buffet talk. You must also send a brief report of about half a page (10-20 lines) summarizing the main ideas in the talk.

Sending the Summaries

The summaries must be sent to teach-cs7930@list.eng.utah.edu by email. The email must contain at least one line of the form “Colloquium of mm-dd-yy” where mm-dd-yy is the date of the colloquium, as well as your student ID. For example: “Colloquium of 8-8-88 : Student ID u0022233”. Follow this line with your summary.

Summaries must be received within two weeks of a colloquium. Late submissions or summaries not adhering to the above format will receive no credits at all.

NOTE: I am unable to acknowledge each email – but be rest assured : our email system works!

Thank you, and have fun attending our colloquia!
